Visual Factories has signed an affiliation agreement with The Digital Engineering and Test Centre (DETC). DETC is a unique joint industry-academic center of excellence within the Loughborough University Campus on the London Olympic Park.
DETC develops and uses virtual engineering tools and techniques to accelerate the development, test and manufacture of automotive systems. They help solve some of the upcoming challenges facing automotive in the fields of design; development; manufacturing and testing.
DETC aims to put the UK at the forefront of product and manufacturing R&D and to enhance UK’s competitiveness through the application of rapidly evolving virtual engineering technology. Per DETC, improving production would focus on halving the time, doubling the value, bringing gaming, big data and high power computing to UK’s automotive industry. All this by using virtual engineering tools and techniques and collaboration across sectors.
“This cooperation is valuable to both sides” says Ian Weston, Director at NT CADCAM, Visual Factories’ distributor in the UK. “We can gain from DETC’s connection and facilities, while they can gain from our technological advances, much required at the automotive industry. Optimizing production and gamification are Visual Factories’ core values. This works perfectly with DETCs agenda.”
